If you are reading this right now, you have more luxury than someone in Iran could ever hope for right now. If you are watching TV or a video on youtube, updating your status on Facebook, Tweeting, or even texting your friend, you are lucky. If you are safe in your home, and were able to sleep last night without the sounds of screaming from the rooftops, you need to know and understand what is happening to people just like you in Iran right now.

They are not the enemy. They are a people whose election has been stolen. For the first time in a long time, a voice for change struck the youth of Iran, just as it did for many people in the United States only seven months ago. Hossein Mousavi gained the support of millions of people in Iran as a Presidential candidate. He stands for progressiveness. He supports good relations with the West, and the rest of the world. He is supported with fervor as he challenges the oppressive regime of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

On Friday, millions of people waited for hours in line to vote in Iran's Presidential election. Later that night, as votes came in, Mousavi was alerted that he was winning by a two-thirds margin. Then there was a change. Suddenly, it was Ahmadinejad who had 68% of the vote - in areas which have been firmly against his political party, he overwhelmingly won. Within three hours, millions of votes were supposedly counted - the victor was Ahmadinejad. Immediately fraud was suspected - there was no way he could have won by this great a margin with such oppposition. Since then, reports have been coming in of burned ballots, or in some cases numbers being given without any being counted at all. None of this is confirmed, but what happened next seems to do the trick.

The people of Iran took the streets and rooftops. They shout "Death to the dictator" and "Allah o akbar." They join together to protest. Peacefully. The police attack some, but they stay strong. Riots happen, and the shouting continues all night. Text messaging was disabled, as was satellite, and websites which can spread information such as Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, and the BBC are blocked in the country. At five in the morning, Arabic speaking soldiers (the people of Iran speak Farsi) stormed a university in the capital city of Tehran. While sleeping in their dormitories, five students were killed. Others were wounded. These soldiers are thought to have been brought in by Ahmadinejad from Lebanon. Today, 192 of the university's faculty have resigned in protest.

Mousavi requested that the government allow a peaceful rally to occur this morning - the request was denied. Many thought that it would not happen. Nevertheless, first a few thousand people showed up in the streets of Tehran. At this point, it is estimated that 1 to 2 million people were there. Mousavi spoke on the top of a car. The police stood by. For a few hours, everything was peaceful. Right now, the same cannot be said. Reports of injuries, shootings, and killings are flooding the internet. Twitter has been an invaluable source - those in Iran who still know how to access it are updating regularly with picture evidence. People are being brutally beaten. Tonight will be another night without rest for so many in Iran no older than I am. Tonight there is a Green Revolution.

- each team has a separate community that the members all join
- each week a challenge is given and all members create an icon (you can use the team communities to get feedback from your teammates and such)
- the icons are submitted, and the community votes for their least favorite team (the team with the worst icons overall)
- the team with the most votes will be forced to vote someone out of their team
- the game continues - eventually teams are broken up, and the players then compete individually.

You know you're an Academy of Art University student when...
-You know exactly what "Anal form" means.
-The phrase "Color and Design" gives you nightmares.
-You wonder why the fuck it's called "The Egg".
-You decide to walk the twenty blocks to class because it'd be a hell of a lot faster than taking the shuttle.
-You wish, on a regular basis, that you had two dollars in general.
-You look forward to the cookies Academy of Art provides.
-You sat through orientation and kept getting told you're going to fail, fail, fail...then fail some more.
-The bums recognize you and stop asking for money.
-You realize that eating and sleeping are highly overrated....If you want to pass, that is.
-You realize how stupid it is to put Academy and University in the same title.
-You look forward to that one night a week you can sleep.
-You're paying $20k a year for an education, but only have some pennies, a button, and some lint in your pockets.
-The term "starving artist" totally starts to make sense,
-You realize, it may be art, but she's still ugly.
-Your "dry campus" serves alcohol at 99% of the events it hosts.
-Your professors give you two weeks to complete an assignment, but somehow you always stay up till 3am working on it the night before it's due.
-The bus rides are akin to roller coaster rides.
-you hate UPS trucks with a fiery passion.
-when your an Academy of Arts student when "going out" is heading to walgreens late at night.
-when you realize Elisa Stephens is using your tuition money to hold her show cars in a school building
-you wonder who the fuck has free time to go to the school skate park, when they go to the Academy
-you wonder what the hell an Urban Knight is, and if that means there are such things as Rural Knights
-The people at the 24 hour Starbucks know you by name, know your drink order, and have actually stopped charing you for your 2am latte runs.
-Otis has actually stopped singing to you, because he is tired of hearing, "I have no money, I GO TO AN ART SCHOOL!"
-when you're surprised that your teacher isn't gay...
-when you rather wait 30 minutes for the school bus to take you to your other class instead of walking 5 blocks which would take you 15 minutes...
-when you're not surprised that during critiques, the student with the ugliest work taped on the board is the teachers favorite..."because they're thinkin outside the box"
-you use the kiosk to check your facebook and myspace page instead of your grades...
-a classmate looks at you weird when you say you don't smoke weed and asks if you're alright...
-Your friends get mad at you because your MPT and don't have color and design
-Your homework is to shoot an 5 minute film and you have no money, no actors, and no locations
-You wait in line for over an hour to return equipment that was due when you got there
-You finish your homework 5min before class starts and still make it on time
-every time you take the shuttle you ask where its going even though you already checked it 4 times in the schedule
- the shuttle left two minutes ago.
-that time you got stranded in the Mojave desert left your stomach fuller than that time you had class at Townsend.
-you wonder why the interior design students get the best exterior view on campus.
-You get a tour of the Bay Area when you catch the bus that leaves five minutes earlier than your usual ride.
- You get your daily exercise consistently side-stepping dog crap on Pine Street.
- You can't tell the tourists where the Golden Gate bridge is because you never stopped working long enough to see the damn thing.
-you get up 2 hours before a class starts, just to catch an academy shuttle that will get you there on time.
-When you're quite sure the school will own the whole city in a matter of months...
-You laugh at students from other schools when they complain about their 2 hr. class being SOOOOO long.
-you are excited by that fact that you get out of class early even though you still have to stand outside the building in the pouring rain 20 minutes after class is supposed to end for the first shuttle that will take you home.
-you know what 180, 79, 860, 655 and 620 mean.
-when you can walk confidently down the street in pjs and flipflops to union square at 3 am
-when cleaning your dorm room involves maids
-when the maids wont even come to your room anymore for fear of 'disturbing the mess'
-when you have to debate whether to spend your money on food or on more supplies
-when you know how to get free soda and gatorade at Townsend.
-when you've had a funny story about the crazy russian bus driver.
- at least one of your daily meals comes from a vending machine.
- sleepless nights outnumber the days you feel rested.
